Kitchenettes originated during the early 20th century in America. They weren’t really a thing before that. The term is typically used in place of ‘mini-kitchen’ or ‘half-kitchen’ and doesn’t usually have the full set of appliances, only what’s necessary. This makes them perfect for a tiny space.
